The president of Namibia has a very wonderful goal - to eradicate poverty from our country.
But
I think, I know, he will unfortunately not succeed - because poverty is not a
lack of money or a lack of resources. Poverty is a mind-set, a mentality
- and until the mind is changed to an abundance mentality, people will
never get out of poverty.
It
has been experimented and proven over and over. You can take people
with a poverty mentality and put them in a palace - within a few months
they will reduce their external surroundings to their internal
mentality. They will destroy the palace and then in the spirit of entitlement demand a new one ...
In
the same way you can take a person with an abundance mentality, a
person who knows how to create wealth, and put him in a squatter camp
and after a few months he will be living like a prince.
People with a poverty
mindset also has a scarcity mentality. They think there is not enough of
everything for everyone. If someone gets more it means someone else
will get less. They are always envious of those who have because they
think it is the "haves" which make them the "have-nots". They hoard what they get and do not share it with others - they don't give away money, or knowledge or anything - fearing that if they give it away there will not be enough for themselves.
People with an abundance mindset like to give and to share - they give stuff away, money, ideas, knowledge - because they know there is always more.
Economists calculated that if you take all the money in the world and divide it equally amongst all the people in the world (me & you & everyone will each get more than 1 million $) - it will only take about 5 years for all the money to be back where it was before being divided to everybody.
Money is attracted to people who have an abundance, wealth mindset. Money runs away from people who have a scarcity, poverty mindset.
People
with a poverty mentality think that money is riches and that if they
can just get a certain amount (per month of once-off) they will be
"rich" and all their problems will be gone. A person can have a lot of money and still be poor.
We don't need riches - we need wealth.
Wealth is the ability to create riches. Wealth starts in the mind with ideas ....
"But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability, the power to produce wealth," Deuteronomy 8:18
More next time ....
